About
My husband surprised me on Mother's Day thirty years ago by taking me on a farm visit and letting me pick out my first fiber sheep. Of note . . . my husband was not (yet) a farmer. As a spinner, weaver and felter there was no more personal or thoughtful gift at the time. Thirty years later, my love of fiber-and sheep remains stronger than ever.

There is a deep connection to self reflection and growth when you are able to become a part of a craft that feeds your soul and can also be used as a part of a second passion-slow food. As I looked at starting a new flock I wanted to raise sheep that are unique in the United States. Gotland Sheep are a dual purpose breed actively working to become established in the United States. They remain highly sought after for their beautiful lusterous pearly curled fiber and pelts.
FyrnByrn Farme is committed to raising Gotland sheep which can add diversity to the flocks of fiber sheep already present in the United States. As a spinner and felter, I make sure the fleeces are extremely clean and free of vegetative matter. Lambs which do not meet the breed standards will be sold as locker lambs to people who support and value small farms and their part in adding connection to the organic food we choose to eat.
